Piano lessons directly through your computer, anywhere in the world!
Darryl’s Piano is now offering lessons via Skype. If you live in a remote area or cannot find the right teacher locally then Skype lessons may be for you.
There’s a few things you need to get started. Please carefully read this entire page!
In order for Skype lessons to work you will need the following:
A Skype account. Visit www.skype.com to set one up.
A credit card. Payments can be made via Pay Pal. Visit my Skype payment page for more info.
A fast and stable internet connection.
A portable webcam that is not facing directly into a light source like a window. Cameras must be set up in a way that I can clearly see your mid-body, hands, and keyboard.
A scanned copy of the the score with bar numbers written in. If I do not own the music you will need to scan your music and send it to me via email before our lesson.
Patience. There may be some hiccups with lessons via Skype. Poor sound quality, lag time and call failures may disrupt our lesson.
As part of working with technology it may take some time to optimize our set-up. A 30 minute trial/calibration session will be offered FREE of charge. We will need an agreed-upon signal to get the other person’s attention when they are playing. Skype doesn’t allow for simultaneous two way communication. If you are playing then I have no way of interrupting you verbally until you’re finished which can eat up valuable time.
Payment can be made via Paypal. For more information please click here.
